TOM PETTY

My tribute to the late, ever so great Tom Petty. Commissioned by my Uncle, who is possibly / probably the biggest Tom Petty fan that ever lived…

The sudden passing of Tom Petty in 2017 left a deep and painful wound in countless hearts around the world and a devastating hole in the world of music. He was such a crucial influence on me. Not only musically, but creatively and visually. I grew up listening to his music, singing along and learning his songs. I always greatly admired how effortlessly cool he was. He was a master song writer. The king of simplicity, righteous and humble. I can never and will never get tired of listening to his music.

My Uncle, who is an even bigger fan than I was of course heartbroken when the news of his death came. He subsequently asked various artists, including myself to paint and draw portraits of Tom in tribute.

This painting is my tribute. It was a tough, but nonetheless enjoyable challenge to paint such a uniquely handsome guy, with such distinct features. I hope I did him justice. This is my thanks to Mr. Petty for bringing us endless hours of musical joy, helping me through the rough times and always reminding me that humbleness is true righteousness.

Thanks Tom. We love you.
